The terrorist attack on The World Trade Center in New York, USA September 11, 2001 – sharpened many Danes critical concern for Muslims living in Denmark. I chose to communicate a TOLERANCE campaign through our 'inner sanctum' heritage: our Golden Age paintings. Paintings by P.S. Krøyer, Vilhelm Hammershøi, L.A. Ring, Anna Ancher og Michael Ancher. These paintings are a national icon. They represent the picture postcard view – the safe and idyllic Denmark. By adding a Muslim person in each painting – I wanted to demonstrate that their presence does not have to be a threat, but could also be seen as an enrichment.
